I came across this video recently and it reminded me of an experience I had in a grocery store a while back and why I started endorsing Funtonia who sells ringtones and phone stuff which could have kept the grocery store experience from happening. I was in the store trying to do a quick in and out grabbing the first stuff that looked like a fast and easy home cooked meal. I had just left the frozen food section and was heading for the produce isle when all of a sudden I was shocked into a state of fight or flight panic by a thunderous screeching sound, which I at first thought must be an air raid siren, or some other harbinger of doom. I instinctively grabbed the frozen corn on the cob from my shopping cart, since it was the only thing within reach that I could defend myself with, and I was about to dive under the produce counter, when suddenly the blood curdling noise stopped as a teenage girl next to me answered her cell phone and put an end to the horrible wailing. I almost hit her with the corn. As my heart was returning to normal, I began to notice the people around me and the way they were handling the situation. One young mother was glaring at the offending teen while trying to comfort her crying baby and an older lady had let go of her walker and was standing with her eyes closed covering her ears. No one it seemed, had missed the fact that this young lady was receiving a phone call. We happened to be next to each other in the check line so I asked the youthful offender where she had obtained such an 'interesting' ringtone. "Oh, it was free" she said. She then proceeded to tell me all about free ringtones and where to get them, how you could also make them yourself, yada, yada, yada.I then suggested that she might want to try some other websites like Funtonia for instance and although not all of their stuff is free they have some pretty good ringtones that other people might enjoy hearing too. Since she still seemed to be unaware of peoples' reactions to her most recent phone call, I don't think she caught that last reference to 'other people'. As as I was walking to my truck with the grocercies, two thoughts occurred to me. One, I was glad that I hadn't clobbered her with the frozen corn on the cob... and two, I think I'll just keep the ringtone that came with my cell phone even though I sometimes answer it whenever I hear a T-mobile commercial.
