Ringtones are like ice cubes. Nobody is going to pay for ice when they can make all they want for free. There are some pretty good do-it-yourself ringtone makers out there so why would you pay for ringtones? Simple. For the same reason you sometimes buy ice.

I have a pretty good ice maker but on game day or if we're having a party I usually pick up a bag of ice just in case. Sure, I could take up a big baggie or two to keep on hand for times when I need extra ice and I have done that in the past. Usually I'll use it and forget to do it again or keep putting it off until it's too late.
Or, I'll think about it in time but just won't get around to it. So, while I'm out picking up the sandwich stuff I grab a bag of ice and toss it in the freezer just in case we need it. But, I'm sure not gonna pay $10.00 for a bag of ice.
Same thing with ringtones. Like most folks over the age of 12, I have better things to do with my time. So, when it comes to ringtones I'd rather just pick up a few when I need them. But, I'm sure not gonna pay $10.00 for a bag of ringtones.
Looking at the chart on the right you might think that's the only reason I picked Funtonia as my ringtone provider. But there's a lot more to it than that. There are several other things that Funtonia offers that the others do not.
Only Funtonia offers...
• Worlds' largest mp3 ringtone database - 500,000+ - latest hits added daily
• 4 ways to download - SMS, WAP, USB, Bluetooth
• Works with iphones (I'm thinking about getting one)
• Unlimited Downloads
If Funtonia has unlimited downloads then why does the chart say 1,440 per day? Simple. That's how many minutes there are in a day.
In a perfect world, I could jack-up my computer and get a blazing fast isp and I would be able to download 1 ringtone or wallpaper per minute. If I did that for a month, without bathroom breaks, (60 minutes x 24 hours x 30 days) that's 43,200 ringtones and wallpapers for $1.99...
In the real world I don't have time for this. But it's nice to know I could if I wanted to.
Don't take my word for it check it out right now. Oh, and while you're there try sending a free text message. It doesn't work for everyone but if it works for you, you can send 5 free text messages a day and you don't have to register or sign up for anything. Give it a try.
