It's a fact that children will spend hour after hour gleefully playing video games but after only a few minutes of piano practice they tend to become impatient and frustrated.
Video games are challenging with lots of graphics and sound and kids will work to master them because they are fun. Practicing the piano seems like the same thing over and over and feels like work when compared to video games.
Chris Salter CEO of Allegro Multimedia Inc., together with Don and Delayna Beattie, have turned this disadvantage into an advantage by creating ‘Piano Wizard’ which is a brilliant new approach to leaning to play the piano.
Piano Wizard effectively eliminates the tedious repetition that makes practice so boring. The student concentrates on winning the game but they are learning to play the piano at the same time. The result is that the student actually looks forward to the game and does not dread the practice.
The Beattie’s have developed a 50-lesson series including video and accompanied by a detailed lesson book with sheet music and detailed instructions for students, parents, and teachers, on how to practice each lesson.
As the student progresses through the lessons they master specific concepts, learn the sheet music that corresponds with the games, and end up playing classics by Bach and Beethoven.
They describe their system as ”…like training wheels for a bike,” that allows the student, “…to have fun and be successful right away.”
Although Piano Wizard was developed for children, adults and students of any age can learn to play the piano just as fast and easy as the kids do and have just as much fun doing it.
Whether for yourself or someone you love Piano Wizard may just be the perfect way to give the gift of music...
